OUR
ENVIRONMENTAL
PRACTICES

GOING ABOVE
& BEYOND Rocket Icon

It is our duty to take care of the planet and it will, in turn, take care of us. And that is especially relevant when it comes to our city and state. We live here. Our partners live here. Hopefully our grandchildren will live here too. It is our responsibility to leave the water, soil and air as we found it, if not better, and thanks to our use of state-of-the-art technology, regenerative agriculture practices and minimization of our carbon footprint, we are doing just that.

COMMITTED TO CLEAN RESOURCES

CLEAN WATER

Water is life. And for all its purposes, it must be clean. We go above and beyond to ensure that our local waterways remain clean and uncontaminated, which includes using nature’s filters (grasses) as well as consistent monitoring of wells and ground perimeters.

HEALTHY SOIL

Soil is what brings life to our crops and grasses, fields and forests and we don’t take that lightly. We help manage crop rotations while also monitoring the nutrients in the soil 2X more often than required. This monitoring helps us to ensure that we leave the land better than how we found it.

AIR PURITY

Air is what we breathe and our goal is to minimize our impact by maintaining thoughtful manure storage and fertilizer application. We also work with local farmers to help reduce long feed deliveries.

WASTE UPCYCLE

We diligently work with our farmer friends to upcycle crop products they don’t need (like soybean hulls, cottonseed and brewers grains). Instead of just throwing them into local landfills, we gratefully accept their produce waste knowing our cows will love them because they’re packed with nutrients cows need!

REDUCING Energy Icon
ENERGY USAGE

We are committed to keeping our resource usage low. To help cut down on electricity costs, we use:

  • TRANSLUCENT PANELS &
    CURTAINS IN THE BARN
    THAT HELP MAINTAIN THE
    PERFECT TEMPERATURE
    ALL YEAR ROUND

  • HIGH-END TECHNOLOGY
    TO KEEP OUR FARM
    RUNNING SMOOTHLY
    AND EFFICIENTLY

  • VARIABLE SPEED DRIVES
    WHICH “SOFT START” ALL
    MOTORS SO THEY ARE RUNNING
    AT THE REQUIRED SPEEDS,
NOT FULL SPEED ALL THE TIME

Did you know the average electric bill in the United states is $117.65 per month?

So for a family of 4, that would be approximately
$29 per person per month. We strive to do better
than that in our dairy. On average each month,
we spend only $7.69 on electricity per cow! We are
able to spend so little on electricity due to our use
of LED lights throughout the entire dairy. LED lighting
uses 75% less energy than standard light bulbs
and lasts 25x longer.
